The QC Officer is responsible for identifying defects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (SON, ISO, etc.), and maintaining records to guarantee consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. In-Process Quality Control
Monitor and inspect each stage of production: deep drawing, welding, heat treatment, hydrostatic testing, valve fitting, powder coating, screen printing, and final assembly.
Conduct dimensional checks using measuring instruments like calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
Ensure correct welding parameters and techniques are followed and evaluate weld quality (visual and NDT where applicable).
Supervise heat treatment processes and verify tempering/normalizing results.
2. Final Inspection & Testing
Perform hydrostatic pressure tests, burst tests, leak tests, and weight verification for all finished cylinders.
Check valve fitting, thread alignment, and ensure no leaks are present.
Approve or reject finished goods based on internal standards and SON requirements.
Ensure proper marking, batch numbering, and labeling of approved cylinders.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed QC records for traceability: test results, inspection logs, rejected materials, and approved lots.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports to management.
Assist in preparing and organizing data for audits (SONCAP, ISO, customer inspections).
4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
Identify and segregate non-conforming products; initiate corrective/preventive action (CAPA).
Investigate root causes of quality issues and collaborate with production to resolve them.
Maintain non-conformance reports and rework tracking.
5. Compliance & Certification
Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer quality standards: SON, ISO 9001, and other relevant specifications (e.g., BS EN 1442, ISO 4706).
Support internal and external audits by regulatory bodies or clients.

Skills:
Proficient in the use of measuring and testing instruments.
Strong knowledge of welding inspection and pressure testing.
Good analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
Attention to detail and strong understanding of quality assurance systems.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
First-pass yield (percentage of cylinders passing all checks without rework)
Number of quality defects per batch
On-time quality reporting and documentation
