Responsibilities and more:
Role Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Director to lead the development and delivery of our residential projects, ensuring the highest standards in documentation, coordination, and execution. This role is perfect for a Revit guru with deep architectural knowledge and expertise in technical detailing, consultant coordination, and the integration of MEP, structural, and other building systems. If you’re a self-proclaimed building-science nerd—someone who obsesses over envelope performance and vapor migration—you’ll feel right at home.

As our Technical Director, you will be a hands-on leader and resource, mentoring our team and shaping the way we work, guiding model management, enhancing workflows, and ensuring the seamless execution of our designs from concept to construction. You should be curious about new building techniques and interested in driving innovation in residential construction.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and direct the technical execution of projects, ensuring high-quality documentation and smooth project delivery.
• Lead and guide the integration of MEP, structural, and specialty systems within architectural designs.
• Manage and develop detailed Revit models (LOD 400 in areas), ensuring accuracy and efficiency for off-site fabrication and the build team’s use in construction. From LiDAR, drones, 360 cams, and AR headsets that reference our Revit master model, the field sees discrepancies before they become rework; you will guide the team to ensure this deliverable maintains a standard. Establish and maintain Revit standards, templates, and best practices for the firm.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level staff, improving their understanding of detailing, construction methodologies, and software workflows.
• Serve as a senior technical resource to resolve complex project challenges and optimize building systems, material efficiencies, and fabrication opportunities.
• Research and apply the latest building systems, off-site fabrication techniques, and digital workflows to enhance project delivery.
• Advise in coordinating with consultants, contractors, and fabricators to ensure seamless integration of building systems as needed by teams.
• Champion continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and developing clear guidelines for Production Staff.
• Review projects for constructability, code compliance, and coordination.
• Anticipate technical risks early in design and construction phases; propose mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications:
• 10 years of professional experience in architecture (with a preference for experience working on single-family residential from design through construction).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution (California licensure preferred).
• Expert-level Revit proficiency—you live and breathe Revit, with experience in LOD 400 modeling, families, and workflows.
• Deep knowledge of building systems, detailing, construction methodologies, and materials.
• Strong experience in consultant coordination (MEP, structural, etc.) and integration into architectural models.
• Passion for technical problem-solving and innovation in construction techniques.
• Experience with off-site fabrication, prefab, or modular building methods is a plus.
• Strong leadership and mentorship skills—able to guide teams through complex technical challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining technical excellence.

Your potential leaders:
• Gabrielle Sacknoff.
• Mike Mangiagli.
