Job Description:

As a System Administration you will be responsible for the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of the underlying IT infrastructure supporting a tracking system. Your role will involve ensuring the availability, security, and optimal performance of the system to facilitate seamless tracking and monitoring of cargo shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Planning and Deployment: Collaborate with project stakeholders to assess infrastructure requirements for the electronic cargo tracking system. Design and deploy server architecture, network infrastructure, and storage solutions to support the tracking system’s data processing and storage needs.
System Configuration and Optimization: Install, configure, and maintain software components and dependencies of the electronic cargo tracking system, including database management systems, application servers, and middleware. Optimize system settings and parameters to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
Security Management: Implement security measures to safeguard the electronic cargo tracking system against cyber threats, data breaches, and unauthorized access. Configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive cargo information and maintain compliance with security standards.
Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters. Perform regular backups, test recovery procedures, and maintain documentation of recovery plans.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and network traffic to identify and address potential issues proactively. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, patch management, and system health checks, to keep the tracking system running smoothly.
User Support and Training: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users encountering issues with the electronic cargo tracking system. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions to educate users on system functionality and best practices for usage.
Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that the electronic cargo tracking system complies with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to data privacy, security, and compliance. Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and compliance efforts.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and security specialists, to coordinate system implementation activities and resolve technical challenges. Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to provide updates on system status and progress.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA Security+) preferred.
Proven experience as a system administrator or network engineer, with expertise in managing enterprise-level IT infrastructure.
5 years general experience.
4 years special experience.
Proficiency in server administration, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure).
Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security principles (e.g., TCP/IP, VPN, SSL/TLS).
Experience with database administration (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and data management practices.
Familiarity with system monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
