Community Liaison: Job Description and Requirements

 

As a Community Liaison your job is to establish relationships between community members and the organization you represent. You will be responsible for advocating for the needs of the community while also promoting the organization’s goals and initiatives.

 

The importance and role of community liaison professionals are paramount in understanding and serving diverse communities. They collect data, monitor trends, and communicate important information with stakeholders. They also serve as advocates for the community and educate the organization about community concerns, ensuring the issues are not overlooked.

 

Main contents:

Ø  Effective communication skills

Ø  Understanding and managing community concerns

Ø  Responsible for building engagement and cultivating relationship between an organization and the community

Ø  Ensuring collected feedback, options and needs of the people it serves

Ø  Communicating relevant information about policies, programs and service to the community

Ø  Collaborating with the team within the organization to ensure that community feedback and concerns are addressed appropriately.

 

 

Skill required

To be successful as a Community liaison you will need to have a strong understanding of how communities work and what motivates individuals to become involved in their communities. You should be a skilled communicator who is comfortable with public speaking.

Ø  Ability to think creatively and develop strategies for community engagement

 

Qualifications and Education:

The most important is experience working with a community in some capacity, and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of community engagement.
