Job Description: General Manager (Caribbean) (Based in Bridgetown Barbados or Georgetown Guyana)
Position Overview:
The General Manager (Caribbean) MalaikAir is a senior management role responsible for overseeing and managing the airline’s operations and business activities in the Caribbean region, with a primary focus on Bridgetown Barbados. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in driving growth, managing key relationships, and ensuring operational excellence in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Business Development: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and expand MalaikAir’s presence in Caribbean, with a particular emphasis on Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Bermuda and Antigua.
Identify new market opportunities, establish partnerships, and engage with key stakeholders to enhance market share and revenue streams. Drive passenger sales growth across the markets which represents 32% of our total business.
2. Global Cargo Sales: Maximize all Cargo sales options across key markets with the aim of achieving a 30-40% Cargo mix in our business.
3. Operational Management: Oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of MalaikAir in Caribbean. Ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources, including aircraft, personnel, and infrastructure, to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality services to customers.
4. Team Leadership and Management: Lead and inspire a diverse team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to drive employee engagement, performance, and development. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and a customer-centric culture.
5. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government authorities, regulatory bodies, airport authorities, travel agencies, corporate clients, and other industry partners. Represent MalaikAir in relevant industry forums, conferences, and events to enhance the company’s reputation and influence.
6. Financial Performance: Drive financial performance and profitability in the region. Develop and manage budgets, monitor financial KPIs, and implement cost-effective strategies to optimize revenue generation, manage expenses, and achieve financial targets.
7. Customer Experience: Ensure a superior customer experience by setting and maintaining high service standards. Monitor customer satisfaction levels, address feedback and complaints, and implement initiatives to continuously improve the overall customer experience.
8. Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. Implement robust safety management systems and processes to maintain a safe and secure operating environment.
9. Market Analysis and Reporting: Conduct market analysis, monitor industry trends, and provide regular reports to the executive management team on market dynamics, competitive landscape, and performance metrics. Make data-driven recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and identify growth opportunities.
10. Loyalty Program: Create plans to drive enrolment and retainment in our loyalty program MALAIKA Club.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in the aviation industry, preferably in a leadership role with regional or country-level
responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Caribbean aviation market, including regulatory requirements, customer preferences, and
industry dynamics.
• Proven track record in business development, sales, and relationship management.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English. Knowledge of local languages is a plus.
• Strategic mindset and ability to think critically, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, leading through change and ambiguity.
• Strong network and relationships with key stakeholders in the aviation industry, especially in Caribbean, is highly
desirable.
• Willingness to travel within the region and our network as required.
